5 Summer Shows Every Geek Should Watch

It seems that with each new summer the internal conflict of going outside and enjoying the sun vs. staying in and watching awesome TV becomes more and more difficult to manage. Unfortunately (but really, fortunately) that conflict is in full effect as the list of 2015 summer shows becomes more and more compelling. Pull up a chair and join us as we break down the popcorn worthy series’ that are sure to eliminate any last remnants of your winter blues. This is The Geeko’s must watch list for the Summer of 2015.

#1 Sense8
Let’s start this list off with a bang and our most anticipated summer series: Sense8. Sense8 follows 8 strangers from very different parts of the world who suddenly become mentally and emotionally linked. Jupiter Ascending aside, it is worth getting excited about this show because it is created, written and executive-produced The Matrix Triology creators Andy and Lana Wachowski. They have teamed up with Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski to tackle an original story that premiered on Netflix on June 5, 2015. Check out the trailer below, full of the Matrix slow-mo that we’ve missed for so many years:

#2 Killjoys
From the Producers of Orphan Black (Temple Street Prods) and the creator of Lost Girl (Michelle Lovretta), Syfy and the Space Channel are set to launch Killjoys this summer. The show follows three bounty hunters (Aaron Ashmore, Hannah John-Kamen and Luke Macfarlane) and their adventures in the Quad, chasing warrants. With interplanetary war looming, “the warrant is all” for these bounty hunters…but for how long? Killjoys premiered on June 19 at 9/8c on Syfy & Space Channel.

#3 Mr. Robot
Mr. Robot follows a programmer named Elliot (Rami Maleka) who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and a vigilante hacker by night. Elliot is faced with a difficult decision when the mysterious leader of a hacker group offers him the chance to take down the company that he works for. His company is just the tip of the iceberg however as the multinational CEOs that he believes are ruining the world fall in his crosshairs. Mr. Robot premiered on June 24 at 10/9c on the USA Network and Showcase.

#4 Blunt Talk
Sir Patrick Friggin’ Stewart is back! 20 years after Star Trek: The Next Generation warped off the air, Stewart is taking on another starring role in a TV series. A far cry from TNG, Blunt Talk follows an unorthodox news anchor named Walter Blunt as he navigates a chaotic life both off and on camera. We’d watch this show only knowing that Mr. Stewart was the leading man, but the fact that he is teaming up with Seth McFarlane ups the intrigue (and offensive) factor a significant amount. $10 says at some point he’ll order an Earl Grey. Hot.

#5 Fear the Walking Dead
We’ve left Fear the Walking Dead to the end of the list because there hasn’t been an official premiere date released yet; though summer 2015 is still the general consensus. Regardless of when it does launch, this is a must-watch for any Walking Dead fan. Rick Grimes famously woke up in a post-apocalyptic world but Fear the Walking Dead, serving as a prequel to its namesake, will give viewers a look at how humanity got there. Season 1 will consist of 6 episodes and season 2 will follow in 2016. Here’s the teaser to wet your appetite…for flesh?

There you have it Geekos! Our top 5 must-watch 2015 summer shows. Are you as excited about them as we are? Are there others that you’re looking forward too? Tell us all about it in the comments section below.
