Ben Afflek to Direct Batman

Deadline has reported that Ben Affleck is teaming up with Geoff Johns to co-write a stand-alone Batman movie.  Afflek will apparently be directing and starring in the film after he completes his scripted adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night.

Geoff Johns is DC Comics’ chief creative officer and has written a variety of series’ including Aquaman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, the Justice League  and Superman. He also has written for TV series’ such as Arrow, The Flash Smallville, and the upcoming Supergirl.

Deadline also reported “that Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found their rhythm. In fact, they are likely to turn in a script before the end of the summer, prior to Affleck going off to direct Live By Night in November.”

The stand-alone film will take place after the events of Batman V Superman and Justice League.
