The newest issue of Entertainment Weekly has once again revealed a first look at some iconic, film-adapted players in the comic book universe. This cover in particular is giving us our first glimpse into the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse; what is sure to be a next summer’s smash hit. On the cover we see Apocalypse, the first ever mutant, looming over Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke and Magneto. This is the first full look at the films representation of the fan favorite villain, Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac. Though Olivia Munn has teased a look at the iconic purple hair and her swordplay skills, this is our first look at the Jim Lee era uniform that they’ve opted for.
The film takes place 10 years after Days of Future Past when Apocalypse awakens from his Egyptian tomb. “It’s a chaotic world of conflict and war and destruction,” Director Bryan Singer says in his interview with EW. “It’s one giant civilization that now requires one giant culling. That’s why he needs special assistants in this process.” These “assistants” include Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn).
Chaos assuredly ensues.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to release on May 27, 2016. What do you think of the three looks? Comment below.
