UPDATE: Check out the Marvel Collector Corps Image Unboxing #1 here.
Marvel has teamed up with Funko to bring you Marvel Collector Corps; a bi-monthly subscription box that is sure to get your Spidey senses tingling. Each box includes exclusive collectible products created by Marvel & Funko including apparel, collectibles and accessories worth $50. With a $25/box price tag, the service will officially launch in April with an Avengers: Age of Ultron theme. The inaugural box will include a 6″ Hulkbuster Pop along with 1 t-shirt (4 possible designs), 1 stylized vinyl collectible and 2 premium accessories.
There are a lot of things to be excited about here; the first being the overall idea of Marvel and Funko teaming up to launch a subscription box. I’ve been a Marvel fan for as long as I can remember and a Funko fan for almost a year now and I can’t think of a better tag team. Whoever came up with it should get a raise – just saying. Second: Every item in every box will be 100% exclusive. Very cool. This will be a huge draw for the collector audience that wants the low ES items to display in their nerd caves.
100% exclusive – every item. Every box.
Third: This is a bi-monthly subscription, which is sympathetic to the wallets of those of us who are still going to fork over our hard earned pennies on a couple of other boxes as well. Fourth: This may up the games of the other subscription box companies to bring us even more great stuff each month. I just hope Funko doesn’t sever ties with them in order to push their own products, because this is surely just the first subscription partnership of many for the collectible giant (my bet is Disney next). Fifth and I promise last: I love that there are 4 possible designs for the first shirt. This tells me that they know their audience and realize that half the fun is not knowing. Keep the variants coming and keep that wool over my eyes – I’m in.
If you’re unsure whether or not to subscribe, check back with theGeeko in April to view the first Marvel Collector Corps unboxing.
