Rejoice. We have our first Trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One! Fans have waited patiently for a glimpse into the first periphery installment of the Star Wars major motion picture saga and its finally here. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
Rogue One follows a group of resistance fighters on a mission to steal plans to the infamous Death Star. “Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,” said producer Kathleen Kennedy. “It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for ‘Rogue One.’”
The critically acclaimed Star Wars Rogue One cast includes Felicity Jones, nominated for an Academy Award for her leading role in The Theory of Everything, Diego Luna (Milk, Killing Them Softly), Ben Mendelsohn, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for his leading role in Bloodline, Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II), Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep) and Forest Whitaker, winner of an Academy Award for his leading role in 2006’s The Last King of Scotland (Also Species, Lee Danie’s The Butler and much more). Rogue One will also feature Alan Tudyk (Firefly and the upcoming crowd-funded web series Con Man) as a performance-capture character.
Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters) and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and is slated for a December 16, 2016 release.
